Getting the item that was clicked on a Chart in a PrimeNG chart within an Angular application can be achieved by following these

I am trying to implement a bubble chart and I would like the function to be called when a user clicks on one of the bubbles.

What is the best way for me to pass the data to this function?

<p-chart type="bubble" [data]="chartData" [options]="options" (click)=openProject($event)></p-chart>

  openProject(event) {
    // How can I access the item value here?
  }

Answer №1

If you're working with Primeng, they have provided their own method onDataSelect on their official website to handle click events. You can take advantage of that feature.

<p-chart type="line" [data]="data" (onDataSelect)="selectData($event)"></p-chart>

selectData(e:any){
        console.log(e.dataset);
        console.log(e.element);
        console.log(e.element._datasetIndex);
        console.log(e.element._index);
    }

I have found that Primeng may not fully support bubble charts. When I tried using the type as Bubble, nothing was displayed. However, the above method worked well for line and bar charts.
